How death sneaks up on people...
As you can read http://www.fr-aktuell.de/ressorts/kultur_und_medien/medien/?cnt=822013 here, Ulf von Mechow died. To those who can't read german and do not know who he was:
He has produced several films since the early 60s, most of them reports. One of the reports he did was about the centential (sp) climb of mount kilimanjaro in october 1989. I was part of that event since my greatgreatgreatgreatgrandpa was the first white person to climb the kili.
So I knew Ulf, and quite well. We did spend 3 weeks in africa back then.
As for how he died:
Ulf has been in dangerous places all his life. He climbed the Kibo several times (which is not a walk in the park by any means), he filmed in Bosnia during the war... And he died when he slipped and fell down a flight of stairs in his own house, hitting his head.
I am sure he will be remembered.
