Final Destination
I've got a cupboard with cans of food,
filtered water, and pictures of you
and I'm not coming out until this is all over.
I knew if nothing else I'd get a couple tears and one good emo LJ entry out of the day. Somewhere along the line I managed the pack everything for the flight to the final destination of my summer, and I would like to state one last time that I don't want to go. I want to wake up in green sheets that are warmer than one person's sleep could make them. But as usual I can whine all I want ... it'll get me nowhere but where we were already going ... and we're going to be just fine.
I've been listening more intently to the stories my mother has for me the past couple weeks, I think I was worrying about my return to that house more than I had time to notice between studying for exams and soaking up as much Jon as humanly possible. But now that I'm hours away from departure I realize I've been subconsciously worrying the whole time. The issues of that place didn't stop spinning when I walked away from them, and they're not gonna slow down to make it easy for me to get back on. I'll be expected to jump in and hope for the best. The makeshift defense lines I used my senior year will no longer be available to me ... a new strategy must be employed. Sammi's tactic of workaholism seems the most plausible.
Friday is an Alex day, possibly the only day we'll have all summer. (stupid people who take summer school and graduate early) The plan is to milk that and the 6 minute phone calls, coupled with heavy daily doses of Jen it should be enough to get me thru the next 3 months and all the Erickson-ness lurking in the shadows thereof.
