back in town

May 30, 2005 23:00

i've been back in town for a little while now, maybe about two weeks. i've been to two different graduations, a bunch of parties, the como zoo, had a bon fire and applied for numerous jobs to no avail. other than that, i've been writing a lot lately and reading a new book called Tuff, it's by the same guy that wrote White Boy Shuffle, for any of you that are interested. Also I recently got my hair colored, and it looks excellent. Shout out to my beautiful friend Matt for getting the job done, pictures to come soon.

I've been aching lately to have someone around to read my prose and critque it but at the same time it feels a lot safer tucked away in my notebook. i want to contribute to friends zines, or maybe start my own but the whole idea of letting people I don't know read my stuff makes my stomach sick. i'm an actress for christs sake so you would think that I would be confident enough to just put it out there, but i've decided in my head that when you're acting you're someone else, I'm a character. But when people are reading my fiction the quality rests on my shoulders alone; there is no director to blame, no cheesy script to laugh at, it's my own creation, my own words, my thoughts put on display out of context for other people to read and talk about. i have to get over this.

other than that, things are good. i'm spending lots of time with my family and i've been keeping busy. i'll update more when something fantastic comes along.
