Excellent tutorial. I'm just learning PS and I found this extremely helpful. Alas, the picture I used to test it wasn't the best as it was rather dark. I'll pick another one and try again.

It worked like a charm on my second pic. I've printed out your instructions and will keep them handy. Thanks again!

I like the coloring. :)

Have you ever considered using color balance, levels, and contast in order to achieve these effects instead of multiple color layers and soft light layers? It's a bit more flexible and easy, at least to me. I was able to recreate your icon with 5 layers instead of 10.

I'm only suggesting. :) I know we all have our ways of making things that works best for us. :)

Heh, thanks.

Yeah, I love colour balance. XD It's just my friend requested it, who uses PS Elements 4 (I think o_O), and seemingly she doesn't have colour balance. Bleh. x)

But, thanks much for the honest comment. :D

Ugh, that's too bad for her. Good thing she can achieve the coloring in other ways. :D

I love this. And as for me, I'd rather have a couple dozen fill layers than have to deal with color balance, curves, etc. LOL, I suck at those and they drive me nuts!
