This weekend was exactly what I needed and I now feel better able to continue grasping onto that last single strand of sanity I have left for just a little bit longer.
I had some delicious bubble milk tea at Naranja w/ Zunny on Friday afternoon, although the tapioca balls were not as solid as usual and that makes a huge difference. I'm glad that they are expanding their menu and all but come on man, stick to the basics! I am now half-way to a free drink on my naranja frequent-drinker card, though, haha... so that's exciting.
After locking myself out of my apartment, freaking out because B was literally on her way to pick me up to leave to Austin, and then climbing over the fence from Stasha and Kristen's patio and through our luckily unlocked back window, we were off to Austin at approx. 10:30pm. A cop on the highway was being a douchebag and tailed us for a good 30 minutes but we shook him and arrived safely (barely) at about 2am.
While stopping to get gas in downtown Austin we witnessed a girl who I at first thought was tripping on some crazy drugs but then realized that everybody around her had bibles and that she was speaking in tongues and flipping out in the Citgo parking lot. Umm needless to say we got out of there quick.
Saturday was spent sleeping late, riding bikes w/ Charles and Scott along the river and through downtown, eating delicious food, playing at Toy Joy, the most amazing toy store I've ever been to, eating vegan tiramisu cupcakes, and then going to Mt. Bonnell to smoke and enjoy the natural beauty whilst in the company of good friends. We stood there for a good hour just enjoying the moonlit hills and river below... simply breathtaking. Sarah and I were having a conversation about having non-conventional majors (she's physics, I'm geography) and we were talking about how you always get some kind of non-stock response because you don't meet many physics or geography majors. Then I said something along the lines of, "Yeah... it's not like when somebody is like, "I'm a communications major,"" but it was hilarious because as I said it she joined in and said the exact same thing. Brainwavez in sync! Love that girl.
That night we went to this really neat coffee shop/pastry shop/restaurant on the river that had these amazing decks out over the water and just relaxed and conversed until B and Shelley left to hit up 6th street for Shelley's 21st b-day. Trevor, Sarah, and I returned to the apartment to drink wine and continue our merry, slurred conversations. By this point I was exhausted, though, and didn't make it too late and passed out.
We headed out at 9:30 on sunday morning and made it back to Denton in about 3 hours... very good time. I spent the afternoon on the patio with the neighbors+trotter+austin (there are way too many austin's now) and feel like we all really opened up and got to know each other a lot better. We discussed our respective "freak-outs" or breakdowns in life and what lead up to them, contributed to them, etc... and how we made our ways back to sanity. Man, I have to say that between the 5 of us we've seen/been through a fair amount of shit. It was really nice to be so honest and get to know them all better. I dunno how I got so lucky to have such awesome neighbors.
After that I headed over to Zunny's and she and Logan made some delicious pasta while Mary-Kate and I watched, haha. We ate and watched Airplane! cause Zun had never seen it and basically laughed our asses off. Fun times. I then headed back to my apartment and crashed into bed at 10:30 and didn't move until 7am.
The only thing that would have made this weekend better would have been an extra day cause I basically got no time to get stuff done and I'm just as tired as Friday, heh. But time to study for my geology test and come up w/ what I'm going to say for my presentacion oral for spanish class. "Esta es mi familia. Ellos son muy loco, pero los amo." I think that's how it will start...
