Jury duty sucked royally. It was in fucking McKinney! There was NO parking. I guess it was my fault because I got there exactly at 8:30. I ended up having to park about 5 minutes away in a "3 hour parking only" spot. The room was soooo crowded when I got there. There had to have been at least 150 people. Probably more. I had to stand/sit on the ground until a bunch of people left. Then we got our assignments. So we went...waited some more...and then got into the court room. There were exactly 50 of us potential juriors in the room. The judge talked to us for FOREVER about the judicial system and crap and then dismissed us for lunch at 12. So I was basically just sitting around from 8:30 to 12. At lunch I practically ran to my car to make sure it was still there (it was). I moved it into the courthouse parking lot and sat in my car the entire lunch period smoking cigarettes and talking on the phone. I am tres cool. I was afraid if I left to go get something to eat my spot would be taken. So anyway, after lunch was over I met up with the rest of the gang and again, more waiting outside of the courtroom. There were 3 other kids about my age there, and they were sitting in their own little group. They were lame though (think: typical Dallas (Dallas encompassing Frisco, Plano, Allen, etc etc)) and I ended up talking to 2 women who were probably my moms age. Hey, what can I say, I guess I don't get along with vapid 18-23 year olds who hail from Plano and the likes. 45 minutes later they call us in and tell us that we are dismissed; the case had been settled. FABULOUS. So I got to leave at 2.
