... Seriously? I can see how that broke your brain. It's Japan though, I'm not that surprised anymore about most stuff they come up with. XD
That second link is the same artist? Really? Huh... The more you know I guess. I bet it'd be amusing to read though. (Even if it's just to see what they all got wrong).
German? Really? (Why am I not surprised). Why is it irony though?
Oooh, for how long are you going? I spent a month there. It's not that bad if you go for a month; the real cultureshock happens afterwards. Just... how good is your kanji and where are you going though? I got lost when I took a wrong train (and a wrong bus). Fun times.
Ironic in that I'm German, yet can't read or speak it. :/ Way to go Dad.
My father and I are going for around 10 days, we don't know any kanji, travelling up to Tokyo from Osaka, stopping at interesting places on the way. I'm good with pictorial memory - might make kanji a little easier. But all in all, we're seriously under prepared. Urk.
Oh, I see. I'm not German but I did study the language for about 6 years. (I still suck at it, but I can read and understand it pretty okay. Speaking and writing are a menace).
Oh man. That is going to be troublesome. I really recommend learning some standard kanji like 'exit' and 'hospital'. Nobody speaks English there. I walked into a police station when I got lost. (I asked a cop on the street for directions, he said I ought to ask at the station). NOBODY understood me.
Aside from that, have you checked out stuff on the internet that you may see on your route to Tokyo? Might make it easier with traveling and transportation. I've only been at Tokyo so I'm sorry to say I don't know many interesting things in the middle. If you have time in Tokyo though, I suggest visiting the Ghibli museum, it's amazing <3
I'm planning on learning some basic Japanese before we leave! It would be insanity not to! (I just have to get my French exams out of the way before I start pushing Japanese into my head. Yes, they're two completely different languages, but I'm not good with second languages and can only hold two languages in my head at any given time.)
We will be visiting the Ghibli museum! I'm a bit of an anime/manga fan, so that was the first thing I put on my list of things to do. But I will take your advice and check out the internet for places to go to...so far I've got some good things from it.
Yeeeeah, languages can be difficult. ;-;' I speak 3 fluently and bits and bobs of others. (2 are native here though and my 3rd language is English haha). It's especially difficult to learn if the language you study doesn't interest you much. Good luck with your French exams then. :) I know how nasty French is. (I'm -not- good at it at all).
Awesome. :D Did you know you have to buy your entrance ticket to the museum beforehand? If you didn't, you should be able to get a ticket at most supermarkets. (Like 7 eleven and stuff, I believe they have ticket machines). If you get the chance (but I have no idea how far from your route it is) you ought to visit Asakusa. It's a big temple district and it's really pretty to see. Also, in Tokyo, the Meiji shrine is also really nice to visit.
I feel inept now. D: Three languages? Fluently? Argh!
Yup, I know. Planning on getting tickets next weekend or the weekend after that. Apparently Asakusa is good for cheap accommodation, so I'll be investigating! *puts on investigation coat*
You shouldn't feel inept. X') English is mandatory for us at school (and my studies now is in English <3), Dutch is the national language and the province I'm from has its own, official, language too. We speak that at home. I may speak 3 languages fluently, but my Dutch isn't awesome. (Especially in writing; I make spelling mistakes when it comes to this wonky grammar rule we've got
( ... )
Yeah, European schools tend to teach two or three languages to their students, do they not? In my opinion, I think it's really cool that you know so many

Don't stick chopsticks in rice...check. Don't be loud...check. :D
I don't know ft either, I just put it in out of habit of my American friends going "What? I don't get it", so yeah. And we're going to stick out so badly, but at least we won't lose each other! He's 190-195cm from memory, so it's not like we'll not be able to see each other in a crowd.
Unfortunately, I'm brunette and my father...well, my father is technically also brunette, but he shaves his head, so no hair or very little hair most of the time for him. I get the feeling that we're going to be looked at strangely anyway, just because of our height.
Ahahaha. Americans... X') It feels like half the internet is made up out of them, Inch, feet and fahrenheit still confuse the heck out of me and get used all the time. XD
Haha, well, maybe they'll ask for pictures because you guys are that tall then. x)
Ffff yeah I can imagine. We recently got all our grades back for the courses we did in first block this year. (7 weeks of class, 2 weeks scheduled for tests and 1 for studying). Happy to say I passed everything again so far. Am contemplating where to go for my internship and or study abroad next year though. (Had a lecture on that today). X)

I really would love to read it.

Aren't there scanlations about? (I'm all for buying, but as I'm usually a poor student I enjoy scanlations as well :P)

I'm bracing myself for the culture shock I'll probably receive when travelling in Japan at the end of the month.

Now I'm pumped! I just want exams to be over!
