Hillary Clinton's campaign was corrupt. I think it would be pretty hard to argue against that. Maybe she wasn't involved in it (and if she wasn't, what does that say about her?), but her campaign chairman was pretty plainly in cahoots with the Democratic National Convention leadership to subvert the will of the people by not providing all Democratic candidates the same support, which is against the DNC charter.
Seems to me (you don't wanna talk about it) that a Clinton win would have legitimized the underhanded tactics used to ensure that she won the party's nomination. This would have been bad, for hopefully obvious reasons (but you just turn your pretty head and walk away).
But I think it would have been bad for women in politics and in general, also. It could easily have been said that Hillary Clinton would not have been able to win the Presidency without subterfuge. That she couldn't compete against a couple of political outsiders without her party rigging it for her. And that would have been extrapolated upon to include all women attempting to work in what have been traditionally considered men's professions.
I think the DNC and Clinton campaign's plan backfired. Maybe if they hadn't decided that they knew what was best for us (and that we were all too stupid to ever find out what they did), she still would have beat Sanders. And if she had done it fairly, there are a lot of people (not me, but others) who would have voted for her that didn't, I'm sure. And then she could have beaten Trump, fair and square. (Or maybe Sanders would have won the nomination, and he polled better against Trump, so he might have been our President-Elect now.) (I voted for Sanders in the primary. Did you know that? Did you guess?)
Trump's Presidency may be a setback for the country in general (although I'm not going to call it before it even starts, regardless of the precedent our media has set), but I think a Clinton win could have been a larger setback for women.
