So, a U.S. District Judge has ruled that the DADT policy must not be enforced any longer. It will be interesting to see how the White House responds.
The Justice Department is considering whether to appeal the court ruling. . . . If the government does appeal, that would put the Obama administration in the position of continuing to defend a law it opposes. Um, no. No. It would put the Obama administration in the position of continuing to defend a law it claims to oppose.
The Obama administration will probably claim that
they have a responsibility to defend current laws. However,
they are in no way required to do that.
