Updating from my iTouch for the first time. Not so sure if this is the way I'm going to do this from now on. It's a little on the slow side. But I am going to finish it up on my iTouch because it is fun... and I also hope so that I can practice using this keyboard and eventually not make so many mistakes. So, you'll have to pardon me if this thing winds up with a few type-os.
Anyway, today was quite a lot of fun. Mika introduced me to her boyfriend Ryan and he and I had a good time talking about sci-fi, batman, and what cheese we imagine might go well with moose meat. We really couldn't decide whether or not the flavor would be closer to venison or buffalo. Therefore, we were forced to conceede that we infact had no idea and would therefore have to google the matter at a later time. It was, however, agreed upon that Deathproof is indeed an awesome film and Zoe Bell is freaking awesome. It was therefore concluded that at least one universal truth had been solved, so the moose mystery could hardly be considered too great of a loss.
We three spent the afternoon at Third Place Books. I picked up two new poetry books: selections of essays and poetry by Jose Lezama Lima and "Greetings" by Hugo Claus. Needless to say, I am super excited to get into thier respective worlds and gleen feom them what universal knowledge they have to offer. Hugo Claus's poetry has me wspecially excited. From what I have skimmed over so far, he really fits what I am into in terms of poetry: odd descriptions with a sort of overly excited beat, almost as if the author is experiencing a crecendo of excitement or emotion, something bordering almost on the outskirts of free association but not quite. Oddity and absurdity arevthe most important. I do not want zen writing. I do not wamt to read about reflections in the dew of a flower unless somehow you can see Che G trapped in there somewhere sharing a cigar with Trotsky and Lenin. I don't want things to make perfect sense. I want to be set off kilter when I read poetry.
But back to today. We eventually made it back to my place where we ate dinner and watched Willow. The dogs wrestled and tossled by our feet and I got a bunch of knitting done. It was generally loads of fun. Oh, and I bought a HUGE bag of Ju Ju Fish. It was delicious.
