seems to be a title I've chosen before (Balance). Work has, yet again, taken over my time. We had hired a nurse who was supposed to take my days off, which would allow me to do the three days per week schedule for which I agreed to do this job. She lasted barely a week. lots of personal crisis stuff, which meant she was unreliable--would call in, saying she wouldn't be able to work, at the last minute. Anyhow, that puts us all back to working too much ("us" being the current staff nurses). I guess I shouldn't complain; I am getting the five days off for the national business conference I requested, late this month. But it makes it difficult to get almost everything else done. And I'd started yoga. plus getting the house sorted (we might actually sell it in the next 6 months or so; we'll see). and working on building my business, so I can eventually quit working for someone else.
and now's the Fast. A time when most things intensify.
it'll be interesting to see what's to come from that, this year.
overall, things are well. Steph continues to drop weight gently, thanks to the med changes about a year ago; he's just crossed the 50 pounds lost mark. Koko continues to be a sweet and quirky kitty, and there are moments at work when I do love nursing. plus, some of my coworkers are showing interest in spiritual matters and, specifically, why I think and act the ways I do about some things, so teaching's gaining momentum there.
Philip and Emily left this morning for about three weeks trip, going to London, then Egypt, then Haifa. Let's hold them in prayer as they experience all that such a trip can bring.
Colby and Ian are visiting from Japan; it's sweet to see them together. They seem well matched. Colby has successfully defended her Masters' Thesis and just has to do a bit more editing before that's completely done. Aimee's enjoying her motorcycle and her new position at University Hospital (something about dispatching EMT folks--juggling intense input and communications, which keeps her on her toes and at which she's quite good). We miss the grandchildren more than I can say; it helps to hear bits here and there about what they're up to, so far away--sounds like they're doing well.
that's all I know for now. it's been awhile since I touched base, so thought I'd cover several bases this time.
with a hug and a prayer,
-yours truly.
