33rd sigh

[Phone, around 6:35 PM]

... Yo, did anybody else just see that on TV? "Future events such as these will affect you in the future", huh? As much as I'd like to criticise the fact that he was being captain obvious, I'm a tad concerned about what it could possibly mean here...

I saw it. Considering the remarks, well, we'll get an interesting story I believe. Although likely a deadly or scary one. Fitting for Halloween, don't you think?

[Yet he doesn't sound amused, nor angry. Just faintly curious]

I'd rather not have anything deadly or scary for a while.

(And by "a while", I mean to say... The rest of my life.)

I think many would rather not, but we'll get it anyway. Best to prepare, and take in any information we can.

Hope for the best, expect the worst...

I'm afraid so. However, one could perhaps focus on the hope that they mess up and give us some true facts...

Right, it'd be about time we got something useful on this place...

Or at least confirmation to the validity or lack of for what it has given us so far, yes. Perhaps if one looks at it that way, it might help a little?

I guess it's a good way to look at it...

Yes. And if things go badly, well there are enough of us here who will help one another out.

[Kyon can perhaps tell by the phrasing, but the hidden comment there? That there are others who would enjoy, far too much, causing trouble or caring only for themselves]

Sure, but not enough to help everyone. I mean, something happens, at least some people are gonna be pretty screwed.

An inevitability that cannot be changed... [There's a very small sigh here]

Yeah... [Sigh...]

[Oh, these two are certainly a bundle of positive emotion aren't they? chaos takes a moment, but finally speaks again.]

I suppose we'll have to stick to that old adage, do what one can. It's better than being immobile.

I suppose so. Although I'm not sure there's much I could do myself other than just keep well out of harm's way.

[Have a very small laugh]

I hear that a lot. One's worth isn't only if they can directly do something about a problem, you realize? No matter what it is we do for others, from helping them up from a fall, to being there if they need us, it is useful. I am sure, with this being Mayfield, that if you have made friends here, you may well be needed to help them if things go wrong.

I guess... Most of them are far more capable than I am though. But as you said, I suppose I can help with the clean up crew...
