Okay, holiday photos, a few changes of clothes... That's all fine but, what the heck is this thing supposed to be!?

That's a very good question. A kappa, supposedly.

A kappa...? That sounds Japanese, is it something from home?

[sosnarrator]

They're a kind of water imp. You hear about them in folklore and stuff. They don't actually exist though.

(Or well, they supposedly don't exist. I mean, I've already met aliens, time travellers and espers back home, not to mention the people I've seen here.)

And Mayfield sent you one that's shriveled up and preserved?

[sosnarrator]

It's probably made from turtle and monkey bones or something.

(She peers at the kappa; man does it look ugly.)

I didn't know you have a cat either. Is it from home too?

(She reaches down to pet the cat.)

Yeah, his name is Shamisen.

(She repeats, just to make sure she got it right.)

That's a pretty cool name. I haven't heard anyone call their cat that before.

(She's now petting Shamisen gently.)

Let's see... It was November back home when I first got him, then I came back here in December... Then I regained him in... I think June? But then I wasn't around during July, so... seven months probably?

(... I wonder if Miss Asahina ever has this kind of trouble working out relative times in time travel? Then again, there was the whole mole thing when I first met Miss Asahina (Big), so...)
