[Loki, currently female thanks to his latest regain, is startled by the sudden beam. He was standing a little past that tree--not quite in the line of fire, but close enough to make him nervous.]

Whoa! If you're going to show your magic off, don't point it towards me!

[Pete jumps back himself, unaware there was even someone present. He re-holstered the wand to the rest of the pack and leaned to the side to peer around the tree.]

...is everything in one piece back there?

[putmeinstitches]

[He straightens his dress, a little irritated with himself for being caught so off-guard. He doesn't feel like himself, dressed like this. ...actually, now that he's not startled, he's finding himself curious about what kind of magic that had been. (He's a woman, or at least appears to be; he can be curious about magic without risking his perceived masculinity. Venkman will never know.)]

Yes, everything's fine. What was that?

[He moves around the tree, getting a better look at her...er... him. He puts on his con man smile and moves closer.]

Good. Sorry about that. It's been a while, and these things tend to get testy.

[He motioned to the pack he was wearing.]

Just a piece of equipment. I didn't think anyone was nearby.

[Oh, Loki knows that kind of smile all too well. He's used it himself more times than he can count. Well, if Venkman is going to try charm, Loki can play that game. Venkman doesn't know Loki's identity, so as long as that stays secret, there's no shame in putting on his own kind of charm.

Loki wants to know how that magic worked, and if he's got to soften his voice and put on doe eyes to do it, so be it.]

But what is it? Is it for starting fires?

[Because if it is, Loki has no use for it.]

[He chuckles softly and shakes his head.]

You could say that, but no. It's a proton pack... in my line of business, we use it for catching ghosts.

I've never heard of a ghost-catcher before. How does it work?

[He takes a step closer, looking at it curiously.]

[Loki notes the pride in the title. This man, he decides, is full of himself and thinks he's twice as charming as he is. Easy enough to deal with.]

Well then, Doctor, can you at least show me how it works?

[And Loki has decided right. Peter shrugs.]

I'm not sure it's worth risking it. I almost fried the hair off of your head, remember? There isn't anything for me to demonstrate it on here, anyway.
