Ryuuken knows it's a bad idea. He knows it's wrong. He knows he shouldn't. He knows, he knows, he knows. He closes his eyes for a brief moment before taking off his glasses, pocketing them.

Rikuou tilts his head, watching. The emotions struggle on Ryuuken's face and he finds it fascinating. He can't remember the last time the mask wasn't perfectly in place, hiding what was beneath the surface.

"Ryuuken?"

That seems to snap Ryuuken out of whatever thought he had gotten lost in. He looks Rikuou in the eyes, then reaches out slowly with both hands, cupping Rikuou's face. Rikuou starts at that, but doesn't move away.

"Ryuu--"

The name dies on Rikuou lips as Ryuuken gently covers them with his own. The kiss is slow, sweet and just a little desperate. Rikuou kisses back almost instinctively, matching Ryuuken's pace, and the moment seems to last an eternity. Ryuuken pulls back a short while later just LOOKING at Rikuou before dropping his hands. The glasses go back on, and this time, the mask is fully in place. Except. For the trace of sadness in Ryuuken's eyes.

"I'm sorry," he says as he turns and walks away. By the time Rikuou's brain kicks back into gear, Ryuuken's already gone. He touches his fingers to his lips gingerly, and looks off into the distance, thoughtful and a little melancholy.

The next day, Rikuou shows up to Ryuuken's office like normal. He pours the man coffee as they snark back and forth, talking about their day. Neither of them remember the kiss, which, is for the best, really. Ryuuken gets up and walks over to the window, opening it. He pulls out a cigarette, bringing it to his lips, and pauses. He looks over at Rikuou for a brief moment, watching his mouth as he talks. And. For some reason, a twinge of sadness runs through him. He doesn't know why and promptly ignores it as he turns back to the window, lighting the cigarette and inhaling deeply.
