1. Quest

A search for something specific, a grail object, and finding it changes the protagonist in some way. Often the object itself is not what s/he believes it to be, or lacks the powers attributed to it, but the lessons learned along the way enable hir to achieve the end for which the object was needed.

It's funny how you can basically link every plot type to some SPN episode or another. Hee.

Hell, this should be the framework for a challenge comm. ;)

Oh god. I thought of that.

We have a sickness, Lyra.

You suck.

:(

Who is running this comm? I always fail at these things!

Wanna help Lyra and I figure this one out? *sighs pitifully*

*smooches*

What?! It's a GOOD idea.

*sigh*

OMG. All right, FINE. But it shouldn't be just an SPN thing if we're going to do something like this.

It should be like...um... fanfic100 or something. IDK.

Maybe you and Jan should do it and I can just sign up. And fail. As usual. :P

Wait, we're going to make each person do 20 plots?! That is... a lot of plotting. You think that's feasible?

I'll totally do it, if you think it's a doable challenge. Hee. Why the hell not?

Well, I figure it's no more than WTF27 or ff100 or whatever. We could make it open fandom, like you don't actually have to claim a pairing or whatever. There's just a challenge table and you sign up.

It's not like we won't write 20 fic betw now and the end of the year ANYWAY.

But... IDK. What'd you have in mind?

I think that's really the best idea. No need to claim a pairing or a fandom, just have a table and link to it when each story is done.

I wonder if setting a deadline is an idea. Not as in 'must have these done by June 2008' but as in 'post at least once a month'. Although that may not be feasible.

[cheesy grin] Notice how smoothly I've leapt in here?

Okay, so it's just a challenge just... to be a challenge. And at the end of the day, you get to pat yourself on the back that you've done it. Yes?

I don't think a time limit is necessary. But I feel like people who complete it should get some sort of banner or something. :)

And a 'Hall-of-Fame' mention. Like a list/link on the bio page to everyone who completes the challenge.

A pretty banner to put on their userinfo. :)

We could do it as a monthly challenge comm, I suppose, so everyone is writing them at once. Like a flashfic type thing only not so much?

Sorry I wasn't clear. Yes I like the banner idea and I was suggesting the link and their names on the communtiy bio page of those who had completed as an addition to a 'hooray I did it' banner kind of thing.

...or not. Heh...just an idea.

Monthly challenge is good. But then, I am quite partial to challenges with time limits, even if I do end up waiting to the last minute to do them. [sheepish]

I like the link idea. I was just adding on. :)

IDK whether a monthly challenge will be better than a table or a do it yourself time table, maybe "by the end of the year" ie, call it "Plot20 2007" or whatever and do it again next year.

Lyra?

Oh, and so much for non-fannish spaces, eh? :D

HAH. We can't escape it.

I dunno! These stories could be EPIC. Some people will finish quickly, but some may take a while. All the other comms of this nature just allow you to finish whenever. So...?
