"But why is it that we are so quick to adopt these heresies once we see how they can benefit us?"
(out of context, I know, but nevertheless) Selfishness.
"but as for Humanity, let us stride boldly into that bright future that we create with the instuments of our own hands!"
NUKES!!!! YEEEEEHAW!!!!! Talk about a bright future.... -_-
You called us God's favorite children. Then why he send most of them to hell?
The way I look at it isn't too far from what you were saying. What constitutes playing God? Well, look at what God did. He created us. He created everything around us. So, does that mean that if we ever create anything that we are playing God? Well, let's look at the larger picture. What did God create everything around us out of? Nothing. So, I'd venture to say that were we able to create things out of nothing, THEN and ONLY then would we be playing God.
And as far as science and research and all that being against God's law...where in the Bible does it say to NOT figure out the world around you? He set up rules to follow, and that was pretty much it. Seriously. Read it, that's all God did. He set up rules, then sat back and watched. Sort of, anyway, I mean, to put into human terms since there is no way of fully comprehending what who and what God is. "Your thoughts are not my thoughts" I believe is how the verse goes. But yeah, I am amused now :)
