Muslim Students Found Guilty Of Disrupting Campus Speech

Sep 24, 2011 19:54

Ten Muslim students at UC Irvine were convicted of misdemeanor charges in connection with their vocal disruption of a speech by the Israeli ambassador to the US.

The Muslim students claim that their protest was protected free speech, but others argued that they were effectively censoring the speech of others, and blocking the free flow of ideas.

Considering this trial took place in Orange County, that fascist enclave of Southern California explains it. In Orange County if you aren't white, rich, and right wing, you are the enemy. This is but a preview of the police state the Republicans will install after they steal the 2012 elections.

You have had to live in Orange County to know what right wing Republican life was like. I grew up there, from the years when the John Birch Society held sway till 1976 when I left the area. I returned to go to college there, only to have to put up with then Gov. Ronald Reagan's tantrum when he shut down our campus for demonstrating against his policies.. I fear the Republicans much more than the Democrats. Our 'democracy' isn't much removed from a fascist state right now, because both parties have found that fear is a good tactic to suppress people and since 9/11 any form of dissent is quickly labeled as a threat, then it is suppressed. If you haven't already realized it, we are living in a police state.

This is disgusting. Freedom of speech and discussion only apply to people who are attempting to discuss politically correct points of view. We must shout down the fascists any time they try to justify their actions, or express their false beliefs.
