A little confused with people jumping of cliffs & what not....
So here's the deal, I was wandering around a bunch of twihard fansites, when i came across a comment that had me completely baffled. It said somthing somewhere along the lines of If Jacob wasn't there, Bella would never have jumped off the cliff...
Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but Jacob didn't MAKE her do anything of that sort. Sure, he suggested cliff diving but he never said "Hey Bella let's see who can jump off a cliff and drown to death faster!" It's not like Jake put her in danger.
So, I'm flipping through New Moon, back to the scene to make sure I'm not going insane. And I'm scanning....scanning...AHA!! Bella not only forced herself off the cliff she did it willingly. (Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
I didn't want to fight anymore. This was an easier death than others I'd faced. Oddly peaceful.. Why would I fight when I was happy where I was?...Hapiness. It made the whole dying thing pretty bearable. (pg. 361)
Is it me or did Bella WANT to die? (Not like that makes a defference now...) But Jacob didn't drive her to the point of suicide, did he? Part of the reason why I'm so confused at this statement. I thought I was missing something...
So to conclude my little rant, I need to know if I'm even close to being right, or comepletely off track...help? thanx.
