01. When you die what would you most like people to do when they hear your name?
3. Think in admiration of your achievements,
It's close between this and not caring, but overall, I would love to accomplish something substantial and well known enough that people I'm not actually close to would think about me after I'm dead.
02. What power would you like to have?
6. The ability to talk to animals
Really, I want to be able to fly. Since that's not an option, being able to talk to animals would be super cool. Assuming they have anything to say, of course.
03. What are you most looking forward to learning at Hogwarts?
7. Every area of magic I can
I want it all! Really, I love this option, since I don't have to choose between being able to travel at will and turn into an animal and...etc.
04. Which road tempts you the most?
3. The twisting leaf-strewn path in the woods
Oh goodness, this is such a mood answer for me, but I think more often than not, I'd prefer the twisty turney meander through the woods.
05. Four boxes are placed before you. Which do you open?
4. The small pewter box, unassuming and plain, with a scratched message upon it that reads ‘I only open for the worthy’
The only one that holds no real appeal for me is the ornate golden casket. Love of knowledge or not, it seems to flashy to me. The squeaky one comes next, but the choice between the gleaming jet box with Merlin's rune and the unassuming, but judgmental one is hard. Today, I'm going to go for the unassuming and plain one, on the thought that good things come in small packages and anyone could slap Merlin's rune on a pretty box. Now, if I'm selecting on appearance, I'll take jet and silver any day, but if I'm looking for something mysterious and facinating, it's hard to get more of that than this one.
06. You are walking and come to a crossroads. Which path do you take?
1. The path that leads to a beach
It is a hard choice between beach and forest for me, but I'm a water person at heart.
07. Which item would you pick out of a chest?
3. Rolled-up scroll
I'm in it for the mystery today.
08. How would you like to be remembered in history?
1. Being Wise
This is no contest for me, to be honest. I'm not particularly brave, I'm not entirely sure that bold is always a good thing and good just seems so...well good. Wise is definitely what I most identify with.
09. Would you rather invent a potion that would give you...
4. Wisdom?
See above, really.
10. Which do you find most difficult to deal with?
5. Being ignored
I see this and loneliness as sort of related, but I find absolutely nothing more frustrating than being ignored when I am seeking attention, so this was really not that tough of a choice. Mind you, sometimes I really don't want attention, but I'm working from the assumption that I'm trying to be heard for the purposes of this question.
11. Four goblets are placed in front of you, which would you choose to drink?
2. Smooth, thick purple drink that smells of chocolate and plums
Sounds tasty. The vision drink is a close second, but I've had bad experiences down that road before.
12. A troll has gone berserk in the headmaster’s office and is going to destroy the precious items. In what order would you save the following?
2. Merlin’s Books
3. Student records
1. Cure dragonpox potion
Basically, in order of replacability.
13. Once every century, the Flutterby bush produces flowers that adapt their scent to attract the unwary. What would they smell like to you?
4. A crackling log fire
This is one area where water doesn't win out - the vast majority of the time, I much prefer the scent of a wood fire to that of the ocean or other bodies of water.
14. Which would you most hate being called by other people?
1. Being Ordinary
Ordinary and ignorant are hard choices here, but I think ordinary, since it's so much more subjective.
15. Which would you rather be?
Envied.
A well lived life is the best revenge.
16. A muggle confronts you and says that they are sure you are a witch or wizard. Do you:
1. Ask what makes them think so
It could be an interesting conversation.
17. Which are you most afraid of?
3. Isolation
I like being alone, but I hate feeling left out, if that makes any sense?
18. One of your house mates has cheated in a Hogwarts exam by using a self-spelling quill. Now he has come top of the class in Charms, pushing you into second place. Professor Flitwick is suspicious of what happened. He draws you to one side after his lesson and asks you whether or not your classmate used a forbidden quill. What do you do?
3. Tell Professor Flitwick the truth. If your classmate is prepared to win by cheating, he deserves to be found out. Also, as you are both in the same house, any points he loses will be regained by you, for coming first in his place.
I got this question in P-More sorting and I think I chose option 2, but really, I think if asked directly, I'd tell the truth. It has nothing to do with whether I'm in first or second place - the kid's cheating and got caught. But really, Flitwick has no business asking me in the first place, which is what makes me think he should ask the kid himself, really. But I wouldn't lie about it either.
19. Which of the following would you most like to study?
3. Merpeople
That whole water thing again. And I find the idea of being caught between two worlds facinating.
20. A troll stops you and your group at a bridge and demands one of you fight him before you can pass.
3. Try and trick the troll into letting you all pass without fighting him.
See, this would really depend on who is in the group. There's virtually no way that I would be the best prepared, so I'm not going to volunteer (unless, say, I'm leading a group of kids or something, in which case, absolutely I will do it). And if I'm traveling with the Hogwarts wrestling champion, I certainly hope he or she would step up. Drawing straws makes sense if we're all pretty evenly matched, but in that case, I'd either trick him or fight as a group. Since I'd really rather not take the chance of getting the crap beaten out of me by a troll, I'll go with 3 here. Trolls are pretty stupid, right?
21. What is the first thing you'd explore in a magical garden?
4. The statue of an old wizard with a strangely twinkling eye
The toadstools sound fun, and depending on my mood might be where I'd go, but I think I'd learn more about what's really going on if I started with the wizard.
22. Which of the following would you consider the scariest nightmare?
1. Waking up one day and none of you friends and family remember you
Being invisible/unknown/unmemorable would disturb me beyond belief.
23. Late at night, walking alone down the street, you hear a peculiar cry that you believe to have a magical source. Do you:
1 Proceed with caution, keeping one hand on your concealed wand and an eye out for any disturbance?
I'm not going to seek out trouble in this situation, but I'm sure as hell going to be prepared to defend myself should it be necessary,
24. Which do you prefer?
1. Moon
I hate this choice too, but the moon is more...viceral, I suppose.
25. Which do you prefer?
1. River
I hate this choice, because what I really want is a river through a forest. But I'm more of a water person in general.
26. Which do you prefer?
2. Dusk
I'm not much of a morning person. I love the transition from day into night, with the fluttering of bats and the cool evening breeze.
27. Which piece would you choose while playing chess?
1. Black
I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside. Oh wait...honestly, I tend to play black because I'm usually playing with my kid and he always wants to go first. But when given the choice, I prefer to see how my opponent is going to lead and make my move accordingly.
28. You arrive at a fork in the road. Not knowing what lies down either way, do you go…
2. Left
I always go left first in video game explorations, because I'm left handed. And contrary.
