People have probably noticed this, but the game is really slow right now, and I don't think anyone wants that! But the only way we can fix it is by being more active! I've noticed a general lack of participation in various events lately, which is fine if your character wouldn't ICly participate! But there's still that chance to get discussion going if they don't.
So tag around, guys! Don't be afraid of posting too much. If your character wouldn't participate in anything that's going on, have them arrange their own thing! Talk to your fellow players and set up plots! Poke someone new! We all have to work together to keep things going.
Thirded! I know how it is to want to be able to sit back and wait for other people to make things happen, but sometimes you gotta do it. And from personal experience, I can say that setting up a plot doesn't have to be some big affair; I've had random casual threads grow into things that half the game was talking about. Even just tagging around and not dropping threads can make a big impact.
Seconded about random things growing into game-wide events. And it's always tons of fun when that happens! Sometimes you never know what's going to happen; you just have to put stuff out there and see where it goes.
This might be a little late, but I just noticed with the discussion of bad parenting - unless your character was brought up in America please keep in mind that the British spelling of the word "mom" is "mum"!
It's not really a big deal, but Hogwarts is in the UK and the environment really calls for a little tweaking when it comes to the more obvious slang and spelling...

Beautifully put! And reminds me to do that myself when I'm back from hiatus. |D
