Concept/Topic: Kid wanted to do something relating to symmetry, and Maka probably wanted to not fail, and Liz wanted to piggyback on to smart people, so this is what they ended up with. They opted to take (two!) plastic fake guns and cause them to blow bubbles. The bubbles are magicked to go into fun (symmetrical!) shapes, like stars, and squares, and butterflies and probably the letter 8 or some shit. This probably involved heavy use of a protean charm in some manner, especially since the bubbles are different symmetrical shapes every time the trigger is squeezed. The bubbles are not ordinary bubbles though. They explode on contact, meaning that some form of the blasting curse probs has something to do with it, and the fluid used looks like soapy water but is really Exploding Fluid diluted to postpone the effects until contact occurs.
Conclusion: The bubbles kind of waft until they land on something and explode, so it's probably better used as a weapon for someone who ( ... )

Concept/Topic: Surströmming, this lovely dish of fermented fish, is quite popular in Sweden. Berwald loves it. Tino, not so much. However, it takes quite a bit of time for the herring to rot. Around one to two months. And you catch the fish in late spring. And while sure, you can probably still buy surströmming in Sweden… Berwald wanted it fresh, so to speak. So he and Tino has put charms on an old tin with a lid in order to make it turn fresh herring into finished surströmming as fast as possible.
Conclusion: Oh, it did work. After a few days of tweaking the charms, the tin is now a magical almost instant surströmming creator. However… the smell, that is quite horrible when it comes to normal surströmming, is a hundred times worse than normal. People not used to it will probably half-die from it. Or heave. Maybe puke. If someone dare eat it though, the smell will actually disappear for them, and they might even find the dish delicious. (It should also be noted that ( ... )

Concept/Topic: The use of certain ingredients in tea to create magically emotion-modifying effects. He didn't create anything new, mind you; he just gathered data from books. (And tested it out, but that's what most people call "making tea".)
Conclusion: Jules is the most special snowflake and should win a Pulitzer AND a Tony. o3o By which I mean it's one of his better papers because he had fun with it and he's pretty much a straight O student as it is.
Effort: HE POURED (teehee poured) HIS VERY BEING INTO IT and by that I mean he worked hard mostly because it was writing about something he would do anyway.
Note: (`・ω・´)

Sana's to come later, once Kam and I work things out.

Silly potions boy, charms are for leprechauns. paintedflavors November 25 2010, 04:34:04 UTC

Concept/Topic: Creating a charm to make paint change colors routinely. The artist in him couldn't resist the possibility
Conclusion: He worked for a very long time re-thinking a simple color change charm used on furniture (and occasionally pets. While he did succeed in making a charm for color changing, it backfired, charming his hair instead. The final color count on his hair was 42, but when applied to paint the affect only lasted a couple minutes, and only switched between the original color and the charmed color.
Effort: He did work decently hard on this. No soul pouring here, but he gave it a good hard try. He just isn't as handy with charms as he is with potions.
Note: His hair is still charmed as of the fair. So if anyone happens to wander by, it changes color every 30 seconds.

Concept/Topic: Have you ever eaten a muffin and thought, "well shit, now I have to brush my teeth to get rid of all that sugar and muffin-y remains"? Well, not anymore! With Magical Muffins, you will get rid of that horribly mundane problem. These muffins are not only delicious, they make your teeth white and shiny, too.

This simple, innocuous project took a lot of research. Heads were scratched, books were smashed and experimental charms were casted (depending on the failure, the end result was probably consumed).
Conclusion: Their labor was not for naught. They finally found a spell that worked! The muffins did make your teeth white and shiny and, after some careful monitoring, they did not have any side effects. They did leave a minty after taste, though. Still, success never tasted so good ( ... )
