Another chance, hopefully a better one.

As many of you know after I was laid off back in 06 and finished the recovery from my surgery I went to and graduated with a deploma in Pastry Arts. That unfortunatly hasn't work out so well. I have this fear that at 41 I'm not going anywhere and never will. To that I started looking at finishing my long abandoned degree in CIS, thats Computer Information Systems lingo back in the 80's when I was in school. I had looked into a few programs and they didn't sound like I'd be happy so I looked a bit more and found Computer Forensics.

Computer Forensics, for those not in the know, is the study and or retreival of data in devices such as computers, PDAs, and cell phones.

I really got interested and put in an application at Bunker Hill Community College.
I got accepted, and transfered what credits I could. Hey those 13 credits were just going to waste, and makes it so I don't have to take english comp again :)

I took the math placement tests with FAR less then pleasing results, AKA guess what classes I'm taking at summer session.

I registered for 3 classes, or 9 credits whatever you want to call it and filed all the paper work for student aid.

A couple days ago I got a letter in the mail.... oh my what a letter I got :)

I got enough for basicly a full schollarship for both the fall and spring classes.
The catch.... I have to carry 12 credits.

NO NO don't make me take another class, please not another class to make my degree come that much faster :)

So I hopped on the T, yes my truck is sick and in the shop, and added another class to the schedule.

Starting on the first of June, yikes not far off. I'll be in summer classes mondays and wednesday nights.
In September I'll have one three hour class a night monday through thursday.

Upsides;
I'm thrilled to be a student again.

Downsides;
I'll end up having to give up my spot at Leather University classes I started taking with Alex.

Since summer session is so short there is no way I can miss a single night of them.
Sucks too! I had a lot of fun at the first class.

I started looking in the course catalog and highlighting the classes I'm taking and going to be taking and they are great. Not only do they look like fun, to me anyways, but the electives I'll get/have to take look like a blast too. Thus far the one that looks like it'll be the most fun, for an elective, is criminal investagations which includes the collection of samples and evidence.

In other news...

The Truck
As you might have seen above the truck is in the shop, and it's going to cost me an ass load.
Basicly every penny of my tax return money plus 2 weeks of unemployment.

The Bike
I got the parts in for the bike, finally and the guy came to change them out for me after several failed attempts of myown.
Turns out I need a new front gear and chain, oh and I was doing it right but the gear was keeping me from removing the rotor. Trust me thats more complex then it actually sounds.

Star Trek
I loved the movie and think it was a good restart for the Star Trek universe.
The Darwin, www.ussdarwin.org , the Star Trek fan group I run is going well. Very well actually. We've been asked by a highschool stage band to help them build a set for use in thier halftime shows. Our website, see the address above, is getting slammed with hits. So much so I keep trying to make little changes where I can and get people to notice us. I even added a favicon! Whats that??? Well look at the icon to the left of the address for Live Journal, see that pencil thats thier favicon. It's also when you see in your list of favorites, go ahead and look, when you bookmark a site. I always thought those were cool and now I have one working for our site too. Yup sounds silly but then I also like things like SeaMonkeys and Triops.
