Hello! I found your journal via that comment you made on calisthenicsea's recent entry and I like your style! I too am a college student who takes photographs, reads novels, and likes to think about adopting animals one day. The name's Emily, and I'm a graphic design student (a senior in college). I have a deep interest in wildflowers and chocolate, separate or together in some cases. I promise I'm not a creeper, I just like having interesting LJ friends! Add me back if you wish. :)

PS. I love your journal layout & header!

Okay so it's taken me forever to respond to you but I added you back because I enjoyed our little convo and you seem pretty cool.
How do you like graphic design? I'm a photo major myself :]

It's cool!

I like graphic design okay. I've always enjoyed other types of art more, but I didn't want to make them turn into work. Graphic design wasn't something I was absolutely enamored with so I didn't have a problem with making it a career.

But photo, oh photo. I love photography! Do you continue to enjoy it even though it's your major?

Haha, ask me again at the end of the semester and I'll be able to give you a better answer. I just switched my major from journalism to studio art last semester so I'm taking my first photo class this semester. I am afraid that by having my major as photo I am going to end up hating it. However, I do not think it will happen just because I love photo so much and I do not think I will see it as a chore to go out and shoot. It was my favorite part of my assignments in yearbook so I am hoping it will be okay. I think if I start hating it I'll switch to art history. My goal in college was always to choose something I am not going to get sick of and love doing. I want to wake up and not absolutely hate going to my job, you know?

I always felt that same way about jobs and such, but then I decided that it would be okay to have a job that didn't matter to me (not an awful one, but if it turned out just being okay then that's fine) because I could always go home and do the things that I love on my own time. Or just trade jobs later on. I think it's probably really hard to find a job you absolutely love doing unless you want to compete for it, and that's not my forte! But good luck with photo. I really enjoyed my classes too and think it's a really fun thing.
