This post is just to assure everyone that the wood stove didn't explode and I still have a house.
Dad didn't get his Christmas bonus this year, which sucks, but he found out the town was looking for guys to drive a couple loaders and he agreed to help. He's spent all day digging parking lots out, just to make some extra cash.
Thank God for the snow!
We had to re-dig ourselves out this morning, which I didn't mind. I took a yard stick out with me and measured how much we got:
15 inches! Hell yeah!
The road in front of our house was a giant sheet of ice. I was excited, and when Mike came outside I ran across it and fell flat on my ass. Twice.
Katie and her parents didn't get their flight. They decided to head home and try again after Christmas. It's not like they couldn't afford this. I mean, seriously...
Chris and I decided to try and go to Wal-Mart again, since it was closed last night. We took his truck, which made it fun. Chris normally has four wheeled drive, but his front driveshaft broke this past summer and he hasn't put it back in. Because of that, he only has two wheeled drive. It was actually kind of fun getting to Wal-Mart, but the parking lot was packed, so we decided to head to Food Lion instead. I got a few supplies, to bake cookies, and we headed back home through town. There were a lot of people stuck in snow banks. People on the shore aren't used to this kind of snow. The Bay usually pushes it away from us, and we end up with a light dusting. But this...well...
This was a blizzard.
And apparently a lot of people weren't prepared.
