3 hours and 45 minutes.
That was how long I stayed in the band room today.
From 12:15 to 4:00, I was in Heaven. Some people from the Air Force band came to talk to us, and our class split up. The brass players went in one room, woodwind in another, and percussion stayed put. I got to talk to four trombone players and a tuba player about anything I could think of (military life, benefits, being a professional musician, how long they'd been playing...), and I took a few helpful hints from them. They played for us, too. It was so beautiful! I closed my eyes for most of it and just listened. It's rare that I get that opportunity, so thank you, men from the D.C. Air Force Band.
You are appreciated on such a horribly cold, rainy Monday. :)
That lasted from 12:15 until 2:40 (the end of school), and then I had jazz band practice. We have a gig tomorrow at the "Festival of Trees" up town, and I'm REALLY unprepared. I need to practice my ass off tonight, or tomorrow I'm going to look really, really stupid.
Today was really awesome. In my publications class, we made shape poetry. That's where you make a poem in the shape of what it is about. I made mine about climbing trees. It's in the shape of a tree. :)
Enjoy my tree and the rest of your Monday!
Climbing
Was always easy
When you were a kid
When your limbs were limber
And you didn't think about
Old branches breaking,
Breaking and falling,
Falling down
Down...
Life
Back
Then
Felt
Free
And
Easy till
You had to climb down...
