November is National Novel Writing Month! (nanowrimo)
The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
(The entire month of November.)
When I tried it last year, I was skeptical. For a 15 year old kid to write 50,000 words in 30 days?
It was like being a kid with water wings, trying to jump into the deep end of a heavily populated community pool.
In other words: You can forget it.
I got to 20,000 words and quit. I was heavily discouraged and I quit writing for a while. (That was no one's decision but mine.)
Life got sort of hazy, and then I started to write again, as an outlet.
So, we've come back to November. I'm 16, about 1% wiser, and I feel like I've caught an ugly, infectious disease.
Nanowrimo is addictive.
I'm going to try it again, just to see how far I get. This time I've told myself to go until I can't, and if I don't reach 50,000, it won't matter. My goal is to pass 20,000. If I make it, well, maybe I'll keep going!
I started earlier today, and I'm really excited.
If anyone is interested in doing it, here's the site:
