family ist gut
Cawer came with me to see the Butterfly Effect last night since a certain SOMEONE pulled out at the last minute. Was good! (despite the fact that I couldn't afford to buy a drink, none, not even one!!) They do good live shows but I think I would've preferred them sticking to the original form of the songs more. Such a conservative :( Anyway they played a good mix of old and new stuff. The 2kool4skool crowd didn't get really into it until "Crave". Highlight for me was prob "Beautiful Mine" coz of all the buildup and anticipation. No encore grr coz apparently they're out of fashion now?? You've got to feel sorry for all the fans who go through the whole encore ritual for 10 mins then get bored and go home.
I was surprised that Cawer enjoyed the gig too since it was just heavy rock rather than his usual metal... the boy can be trained yet ^_^
I can't get over how all these RSL clubs are becoming really sexy modern venues now. It was funny seeing old married couples trooping past groups of angsty black-clothed youths. I guess it raises the question of whether we're losing sight of our heritage by disrespecting the older generations who fought in the war. Then again everything evolves, right? Maybe one day in the future some kid will say to another kid, hey you know RSL's used to be all about the war veterans and stuff? And the other kid will be all like hahaha whatever man!
Anyway the past week was awesome! Had Christmas Eve dinner at home with my once-estranged aunt and cousins who received the usual psychoanalyses from my sister's bf, then Christmas lunch and dinner with Cawer's very traditional family: turkey, bonbons, mass gift-unwrapping, xmas trees - the works. Cawer (or his bro's gf rather) finally introduced me to my first Riesling but I've decided I'd much rather be a coffee connoisseur than a wine one, considering I'm starting to fantasise about coffee on a regular basis now. I've discovered my new weakness: choc-coated coffee beans omgomg. All they need now is a starchy ball in the centre and I'll be in NSO heaven.
Ok this is starting to get really long and I'm puzzlingly sleep-deprived so I'll go now... Have a fantastico NYE everyone!!
