I feel like Miss Manners. But Spencer inquired as to the proper way to hold a fork when one is eating. So I have created a lovely four-image tutorial. (Pictures taken in front of my laptop, while chatting to Spencer on MSN a few moments ago.)
This is how one would cut meat, pasta, or anything else that requires slicing when placed on one's dinner plate.
This is the improper way to hold one's fork when picking up a piece of said meat, pasta, etc. when intending to place it into one's mouth to chew (fork held in the left hand, inverted).
A big no-no.
This, however, is the proper way (fork held in the right hand, right side up).
Congratulations. You now have table manners. Go forth and multiply.
This has been brought to you by the completely pointless committee for public education in manners.
