That's what we feed our puppy -- Nutro Natural Choice -- and so far so good. BTW, I've heard about this microchip on LJ land so much...Is THAT for identification? Is it expensive to do it? *curious*
A microchip is injected in between the dog's shoulderblades. If the dog gets lost and doesn't have its collar on, the owners can still be identified. A veterinarian or shelter will scan for a chip and if there is one, they look up the number on the computer. They will then be able to get the owner's contact information.
Memphis, my cat, got picked up and brought to the shelter one day. Because he had a chip between his shoulderblades, they were able to get my information and contact me to let me know they had him.
WOW!!! MAGNIFICENT IDEA!!!! I am convince. How old does the dog/cat need to be BEFORE they can inject the microchip? Not thinking to microchip our cats, but our GSD pup will be OUT there a lot. And so, I think she needs it more.
Well, I might DO that too someday. You see, I want to get involve in Service and Rescue someday (hoping *cross fingers* I heard is not that easy). My husband said that most dogs who got the microchip are involve in some RESCUES of some sort, just in case they get lost, they can TRACK the dog...great idea!! And if it's not that expensive, hey..why not?
