Wow. It's been a long while since I've finished anything I've written. I have two FFTL stories I need to post here, but I'll do it seperately. Here's my newest. I wrote and completed it today. I wrote it on notebook paper and in green ink. You'll understand once you've read the title.
Title: Blue and Yellow
Pairings: None really, but some Matt/Sonny (From First to Last)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Sonny gets an unwanted response from Matt when he comes out of the closet. An argument in the hallway leads to an unexpected confession of sorts.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything except for happy endings and Sonny's nice ass. Damn.
Should've done something but I've done it enough
By the way your hands were shaking
Rather waste some time with you
Seventeen year-old Sonny Moore sat in his bedroom alone, crying. Life never seemed to be this bad before. It had been a mistake. And Sonny was now regretting the conversation. The response Sonny had received wasn't the one he had expected.
Sonny had picked up his cell phone and punched in his best friend Matt Good's telephone number. His heart was pounding against the inside of his chest, harder with each ring. Finally Matt picked up the phone. His breath came in short pants as if he had ran to the receiver.
"Hello?" Matt answered.
"Matt?" Sonny said, though he recognized Matt's familiar voice. "It's me; Sonny."
"Oh, hey, Sonny. What's up? How are you doing?" Matt said, trying to start a conversation.
"Matt, I have to tell you something." There was a pause and Sonny took a deep breath. He was ready to tell Matt even though he felt as if his heart was ready to burst out of his chest. "Matt," he began, his voice shaking, "I'm gay."
There was a long silence. Matt's voice had caught in his throat. "I hate you, Sonny. Don't call here anymore." Matt hung up the phone. The dial tone rang in Sonny's ear. 'Please hang up and try again,' the recorded voice instructed.
That had been over a week ago. Sonny hadn't talk to Matt or even seen him since then. Now it was Monday morning and Sonny had to get to school. He stood up and grabbed his backpack.
Sonny arrived at school rather early. There were about a dozen or so students scattered around the school grounds. He spotted Matt with Travis and Derek, mutual friends, hanging out on the steps that led to the school's main entrance. Matt must have seen Sonny too because he scowled and excused himself from his friends. Sonny watched Matt enter the school building.
Sonny hesitated for a second. He needed to talk to Matt. Their friendship meant everything to him. And his sexuality wasn't something that he thought was worth losing it over. He followed Matt's path up the concrete steps. He pulled open one of the glass double doors and stepped out onto the tiled floor of the hallway.
Sonny made his way to his locker which was on the same row as Matt's, just two lockers down.
"Matt!" Sonny called, turning down the where both his and Matt's lockers were located. Matt looked up and began to walk in the opposite direction, toward the end of the hall. "Matt, wait!" He jogged toward Matt, who had abruptly stopped walking, which came as a surprise to Sonny. Sonny reached Matt and placed a hand on hid friend's shoulder. "Matt, please," he whispered.
Matt spun around, slapping Sonny's hand away as he did so. "What the fuck do you want?" Matt asked loudly, glaring at Sonny.
Sonny was afraid, of what he wasn't sure. He was finding it hard to swallow as he realized that he could lose his best friend in a moment's time. "I-- I want to talk to you," he stammered. "Matt, we need to talk."
"Does it look like I want to talk to you?!" Matt spat.
"Matt, please," Sonny pleaded. We've been friends for years. What the hell is your problem?"
"You're gay, Sonny! Don't you fuckin' realize that? We would have been fine. Why the fuck did you have to tell me, Sonny?" Matt yelled, a few heads turned in the hallway.
Sonny was as angry as Matt now. If Matt really wanted to know, then Sonny would tell him. "You really wanna know why, Matt? It's because I fucking love with you. Damn it, Matt. I'm in love with you!" Sonny yelled back. There were a few gasps around them, all eyes locked on Matt and Sonny.
Matt's cheeks turned a cherry red as the blood rush to them. He growled, grabbing Sonny's wrists and dragging him into the empty boys' restroom at the end of the hall. Matt shut and locked the door behind them.
Matt pinned Sonny against the wall. "What the hell did you just say?"
Sonny's Adam's apple bobbed in his throat. He felt nauseous. "I said that I love you, Matt." A lone tear slid down his cheek. "Matt, please. I can't go the rest of my life knowing that you hate me for something stupid," Sonny cried.
Matt sighed, taking a step back. "Sonny, it's not stupid. It's who you are. I didn't mean what I said over the phone, Sonny. I could never hate you." Matt frowned. "It came as a surprise to me. I never thought that you'd tell me something like that. I never even thought you were...Sonny, you mean so much to me." Matt paused. "After I hung up with you, I started thinking. Thinking about everything we've done together, how long we've know each other, about how beautiful you are." Sonny's heart fluttered and he swear it had skipped a beat. "And Sonny I realized something, something that I'd been hiding from myself for some time now. Sonny, I love you, too."
Matt grinned. He took one of Sonny's hand in his own. His shaking right hand went to Sonny's cheek, where it wiped away Sonny's falling tears, caressing the soft skin gingerly. A slow smile crept onto Sonny's face. Sonny leaned forward as did Matt. Their lips met in a soft kiss, fusing together to create something new, like blue and yellow creating green.
