Geh. I would just like to start off by saying that my faith in you, the American public, has been completely erased. I don't trust you, I don't like you, and you make me ashamed to call myself American. I refuse to anymore. I am NOT American, if this is how you choose to show it, and willingly, PROUDLY display this type of idiocy as your way of life to the rest of the world. You have no idea what you've done. You have no idea what this will lead to -- that's not to say that I do either, but given our track record the past four years, I'm inclined to say that a war (yes, another) is on the way with one of two countries. China and/or Korea. And then... well. Let's just say there will probably BE no more US of A, ok?
This has made my decision four years ago to revoke my US citizenship altogether and move to Canada (or Europe -- Germany, Finland, or Sweden -- they have better equestrian programs than the US ever will) that much brighter, than much more likely to happen.
And you know what the kicker is, O Beloved Brothers and Sisters Of Mine? You, yes YOU, chose to vote in a Senator -- MALE, no less -- that thinks women who have abortions should be put to death. I cannot FATHOM what in the name of whatever it is you believe in or fear possessed you to vote in someone with that kind of narrow-minded, bigoted, PATHETIC point of view. NO MAN, NO ONE, has the right to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body. Do you want it on your head that some woman has to give birth to a child that she didn't want, that she cannot support, because she was a victim of rape, incest, or some other violent act? Do you want it on your head, the number of women who will be killed, who will become seriously infected because they have Back Alley abortions, because under this sorry, pathetic, dismal excuse for a man has made abortions illegal? Do you want it on your head, YOUR HEAD, that the number of women abused and children killed in utero will increase because there are men out there who will abuse their women, saying it's THEIR fault they got pregnant, and they will beat her to death until she aborts the baby? Do you want it in YOUR HEAD that there will be so many more pregnant women killed because of that abuse, not to mention the emotional scarring that will erupt from this, because they have to go through life either dealing with the fact that their baby's father beat them until they aborted, or they have to care for a child that is a product of rape and will then become a SOCIETAL problem -- more than likely, those women will NOT have the monetary and emotional resources to deal with the child and get them the help they BOTH need.
Do you REALLY want all of that on your head?
Sure, you may be pro life, or pro choice. I, obviously, and pro choice. But think about what you've done, people. THINK about the death that will result from YOUR decisions.
Will you truly throw me in jail, or put me to death without second thought, knowing that I will WILLINGLY have an abortion if I were to get pregnant right now, because I know that I cannot emotionally and financially deal with the pregnancy and subsequent birth. Are you willing to condemn someone to that fate? Are you THAT conservative?
This country is on a serious downward spiral. And it's not just because of Dubbya. It started way back when with Reagan, if not before. We are NOT the invincible power that everyone in this country seems to think we are. We WILL be brought down, we WILL get a reality check -- and you won't like it. No one will.
What are you going to do when Bush reinstates the draft, even though he has said time and time again -- ON RECORD -- that he will not open it. What are you going to do when you realise that the man you voted in office is sending your brother, your father, your boyfriend, cousin, husband, daughter, sister, wife to war? What are you going to do when you realise that because of this man, you are sentencing your family and friends to an early grave?
Do you want THAT on your head?
