Champion, Wasted

Mar 23, 2011 20:11

Oh how this evening comforts you!

Tied to the river
just below the city limits,
we just can't get enough!
One wayward wrath
a devoured rope
and half a day later,
I once liked to taste my wounds!
Will you be back anytime soon?

The parade of people passed the window;
brightly colored umbrellas decorated
this lonely town you
called your tsunami.
Across the room
bottles littered your windowsill
and lost Dr. John's
cluttered your desk.
I wondered as you grabbed your keys
weather lust was an infection
without a cure.

Wanted to move,
a cold embrace felt it's self
cocooned around my contorted body.
One hour, twice removed
I longed to hear the sound of the doors again.
People passing outside,
so unaware of their misfortunes
that my addictions fed themselves.
If wanting was needing
I surely fed myself from your fight.

Tied to the river,
I knew that you would return to me!
Have you lied enough
to save the idling crowds
from knowing your dirty secrets?
Lust, lust,
my
heart
cannot
take
round
two.

The investigators never found
a good enough reason
to pursue an eruptive headline.
