oh rarity! an update!

Given my other online journal space is on the fritz, my updating is here. So sad i've been neglectful of LJ. Truthfully, i spend most of my LJ time looking at knitting blogs [i have another account on here just for knitting].

Well, i was offered a job today. Mine for the taking. It's basically trading one low wage job for another, and this one even pays less. Currently i work at a retirement home doing reception work, tonight i was offered a bartending job at the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Not particularly a glamorous position, but an interesting one, to say the least. I just need to figure out whether this job is worth leaving my other one.

There are pros and cons to each job. Currently the pros are- i love the residents and enjoy the people i work with [though 2 of my favorites have left], i get a membership to the YMCA, it works with my substitute teaching hours and if i want days off i can try and find people to cover my shift. Cons are- i've worked there for a year and havent gotten a raise and i dont like the way management is run, it's very inefficient and communication is bad.

So, pros to the offered job are- tips, low key [it wont be crazy busy], i work on my own opening and closing, no manager, more bartending experience, and it will work with substituting hours. Cons are- no two days off in a row [sunday & wednesday are the days off], work till 12 or 1 am every fri and sat night, no other "employee" to cover shifts [though the secretary said he and one other guy who run the Eagles can fill in if needed].

That;s what i can think of right now.

This summer i am working as a sub a a preschool, and the hours i work there are dependant on when i am available, so that should be no problem.

It sure would be nice to have a weekend day off.....i have been working weekends straight for the past year. I could take some time this summer to visit my friends in Seattle [whom i have been sadly neglecting].

Well, that's about it. Comment if you have an idea about which job may seem better.
