So, my lawn has gotten kind of out of control. And I had every intention of cutting it this morning before work, but then I got sidetracked reading and barely had time to shower before I had to leave, and then Fate punished me not once, but twice. First I had an abominable day at work, and then after I got home and had dinner I took Mads for a long rambling walk around campus and then ON MY FRONT LAWN she sees a rabbit and lunges. And I grab the leash the wrong way and end up with some serious fucking friction burns on my left hand. Now it's two hours later and I'm still sitting with my hand on ice and typing badly with one hand. I GET IT, UNIVERSE. I WILL GET UP TOMORROW AND MOW THE LAWN.
It was a pretty awesome walk, though. I love wandering around Randolph Macon in general, because I'm used to VCU and a big urban campus, so it's pretty cool just sort of meandering around all those big, sweeping lawns and the old, heavy brick architecture, you know? And it was a nice night, a storm coming in from a long way off but still just lightning streaking across the sky and the faint, far-off roll of thunder and the air heavy with promise. Too bad that it ended with SO MUCH PAIN.
(Seriously, I get it, I will mow through the pain tomorrow. Jeez.)
