Ohmygod, I love this show. Seriously, I only started watching it because DB was in it, but damn. It's just... yay. Fantastic writing, fantastic acting, there's no bad here.
Hodgens. Hodgens and his cute geekitude and his thing with Angela that finally, finally reached the surface. So much love. Just... yeah.
Angela declaring all their loyalty for Brennan... and a totally valid threat, too. From what I understand, they're all the top of their respective fields, and there's probably not a lab in the country that wouldn't take their team as is, just because they're the best and they've worked miracles together. And go, Angela, for telling Cam that Booth would go too- and being right.
Booth declaring his loyalty for Brennan... I can't decide if it didn't feel dramatic enough, or if I liked it for exactly that reason, because it didn't feel like a big thing, just the basic truth. He's with her, all the way. And Cam needed to understand that before she could move forward, because beyond the fact that those two have history, it's obviously not over for her, and it's pretty clear to all involved who Booth's looking towards.
Which brings me to Cam. Because I like her. No, I do. She's awesome. She's made no secret of the fact that she likes this position because it's got cool new toys, not because she has a great desire to bring truth and justice to the world. She's a fantastic people-person. She's kick-ass in her own fairly low-key way. And she knows enough to realize that she does have to strike a deal with Brennan, not just because she might lose her and the team, but because Brennan honestly deserves it, because without any kind of leeway she can't work her miracles, and because this is her team, and there's valid reasons that she shouldn't be the one in charge, but there's equally valid reasons why she shouldn't have to follow orders of someone who seems to be, at least from what I've seen so far, excellent in her field but also not up to Brennan's level, scientifically. I actually see them working out something closer to a partnership, because it's the only way I can see things working out. They'd actually make pretty good friends, too, and from that last scene, it seems like they might be starting to realize that.
And, once again... Hodgens and Angela... Squee. Just... yeah. I've been waiting for that to happen since the first hint last season, and I sat there giggling like a schoolgirl when she's like, "odd place for two people in love to end up," and he, totally clueless, goes, "a forensics lab?" And she just stares at him. And then, that scene between them at the end, when he just gives her the rose that broke the case and smiles and leaves while she stares after him... oh, yes. yes, yes, yes. And the best part is that I know that that romance is going places. There was a a tv guide article where the actress said, "I'd really love to see her really fall in love," while talking about the Angela-Hodgens romance. And that just makes me... so, so happy.
Okay. Done now.
