1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
-Drove a car
-Improvised in front of an audience
-Yelled at my boss
-Walked out of a job
-Stood up for myself/others, facing my fear of confrontation
-Ate poutine (with veggie gravy of course)
-Got a credit card
-Maxed out a credit card
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My new year's resolutions were to eat healthy, get excercise, meditate, and learn to feel good about the way I look. I did a little bit more meditating and
feel a lot better about myself in general, but I didn't eat very healthy and I barely excercised. So I guess my resolutions will stay the same and hopefully
I will be more successful with those things in 2009.
3. Did someone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
The ability to look at the big picture.
More financial freedom/security.
Maybe a band?
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
My 21st birthday party, the first flute party, the night at Maxwell's, and my time in Boston.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
The overwhelming amount of personal growth, increase of self confidence, and generally stepping out of my boundaries both as a person and as a musician. Also
getting into the performance program.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I still haven't learn to communicate very well. I let people walk all over me, more than I'd like to anyway. I spent too much money.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My flute...although technically my grandfather bought that. I didn't really buy much other than the necessities.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Maggie's :) she's always there for me when I need her, and so incredibly full of love and warmth and compassion. I couldn't've gotten through this year without her. And Jenn, for being an awesome roommate.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The panty thief.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, school (books, music, tuition etc.).
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
School. Performances. Boston.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
This question always bugs me...my memory just isn't good enough to associate a song with a year for any significant period of time. And if I did it would
probably be one of the history listenings, which is just obnoxious.
17. Compared to this time last year,
i. are you happier or hardened?
Definitely happier. I'm hardened only in the sense of determination and confidence, not in the sense of being jaded.
ii. thinner or fatter?
I think I'm the same, but I don't own a scale so it's hard to say.
iii. richer or poorer?
Dirt, dirt, dirt poor.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Seeing friends, relaxing and having fun. Excercise. Actually listening to, and playing, the music that I want to.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working shitty fast food jobs.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent with my family, was fun, and wonderfully uneventful.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Not unless you count inanimate objects... <3 flute
22. Any one-night stands?
Not unless you count inani...hahaha just kidding. No.
23. What was your favorite TV program?
X-Files is the only thing I've been watching since I don't have cable and barely have time for TV anyway...
OK, I watched two seasons of Heroes over the holidays, and I hate that show so f&*#ing much because I just can't stop watching it!
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone.
25. What was the best book you read?
I did a lot of rereading, but of the new stuff the whole Memories of Earth series by Card was excellent.
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Musicovery, if that counts. Oh, and Ian Clarke!
27. What did you want and get?
FLUTE. Self.
28. What did you want and not get?
Straight A's :(
29. Favorite film of this year?
I don't remember going to the movies at all this year...
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
21. Decided to celebrate being able to drink in any country with a large group of friends at Ye's sushi, followed by rock band and drinking at my place. It
was an excellent night...and I learned a very important lesson: all you can eat sushi is the worst possible food for vomiting.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More freedom, and the time to enjoy it.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Fashion...concept? Well, Jess and Jenn were my personal fashion consultants and I think they did a pretty good job :P
33. What kept you sane?
The same thing that drove me insane...MUSIC!
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
DON'T. CARE. This is a stupid question and it angers me. Celebrities are just people and people are way too obsessed/concerned with their lives.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Holy crap black president???? Yay progress!!
36. Who do you miss?
Gramma.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn't really meet anyone new this year. Oh, Afendi! I definitely need to get to know that kid better...
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
I learned that I am not responsible for anybody other than myself. I still need to actually accept and apply this knowledge though...
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I can never seem to answer this question...
