What the FUCK, LJ. Look, I read the news post where they announced the changes last week, but given that every fucking comment they received in that post was an adamant "NO THANKS, PLEASE RECONSIDER," I guess I kind of... thought they'd reconsider!
This shit is ugly as fuck, and that's not even COUNTING all the problems it creates for kink memes, comment threads, and using trigger warnings. I just loaded a page, and it was there, and I am horrified. Glad I didn't renew my paid account before this happened, ha.
ETA: When you go to select an icon in this new comment formatting, it displays all of them full-size, which takes forever to scroll through, and they're not alphabetized, which... means they're all just displayed randomly instead of grouped the way I like them. :-( WHY.
