love your body

Yesterday was Love Your Body Day, and I wrote this up for it but I didn't get a chance to post it. So, if you will indulge me:

I love my calves and my thighs, for being long and strong and thick. I love the curves of my body, how my waist tucks in and my hips flare out wide, and the round of my belly. I love my breasts, which are large enough to be a nice handful but small enough they don't hurt my back, and are soft and round and would make a comfy pillow for your head if you were here with me. I love how peaches and cream the color of my skin is, pale on the inside of my wrist and tanned pink where the sun hits the top of my forearm. I love how dark and thick and healthy my hair is, and how it twists and curls and goes wavy. I love my bones, for only breaking on me once in almost 23 years (which seems like a pretty good record to me), and for healing together again afterwards. I love my eyes and how they change color from stonewashed grey to bright jean blue, and the flecks of hazel you can find when you look close. I love that my nose matches my mother's and my sister's, and that it helps me smell good food and beautiful perfumes. I love my hands for being dextrous, being able to braid hair and thread needles and open a bottle of wine and write with a pen. I love the square shape of my face and jawline. I love my cunt and how it responds to touch and image and sound and word and thought. I love my lungs for breathing deeply and giving me the air to fuel my words and my steps. I love my brain for being clever, and for always struggling to understand things better, and for registering the signals the rest of my body sends it. I love my heart for continuing to beat in my chest, at every moment (especially this one).

health, real life
