Well, I haven't worked on my numb3rs_het fics today, but I DID make a peach pie! So... Yay?

I actually almost always take pictures of the stuff I make, but I don't have the patience/photography skills to actually go and get a camera and set up a nice shot, so I end up with a collection of crappy cellphone pictures. I'm happy to show them to you, though! Here is the peach pie. It's far from perfect-looking, but in my defense, it was my first time making peach pie, doing a lattice crust, or doing that fancy braid around the edges of the crust. Unfortunately the outer edges of the crust got a little overdone and I didn't think to check on them early enough, otherwise I would've tented them with tinfoil. Oh well!

And here's a slice of the apple pie I made last week, which was practically perfect in every way.

You'll get your fic done. You always do. You like those last minute deadlines. You thrive on them. It's your practice run for your upcoming semester. :)

Haha, see, you know me well enough to know that's how I work with school assignments, but I have honestly lost track of the number of fic challenges I've signed up for and had to default on. I had to basically ban myself from signing up for fic challenges a couple years ago because it got to the point where I NEVER completed them. IDK what I was thinking this time, lol. But I haven't given up yet!

I think your peach pie looks great. I'd never be able to do anything that damn fancy. haha. I'd be lucky if I even got it to have a crust with the slits cut in the top. LOL. You are truly a baker. I have issues with pies and cookies but I guess that's why I should make them more often. I have noticed I have a lot of cookie recipes and pie recipes saved in my foodgawker favorites. Hmmm.

I see that you managed to get one fic done. *high five* I need to read and comment. I hope every one who signed up will eventually post their fics. The prompts were all so curious that folks chose!

Aw, thanks. I love making pies, despite/because of the amount of work that goes into them. I just find them one of the most satisfying things to bake. Cookies I love to eat but I don't really have the patience to make, because I hate scooping them out over and over onto baking sheets.

Yesss, I did get that one fic up. I think it was easier for me to write than the other one because I started with one image and worked off of that, whereas with the other one I came up with this whole plot and then when it came down to writing it, I just couldn't get the words out. :-/ I felt good about getting one posted, though.

I hope every one who signed up will eventually post their fics.

I can't lie, I am a little surprised at the lack of posting, just because I haven't heard anything from anybody except for one person who let me know she wouldn't be able to post.

Anyway, I haven't read yours yet either, half because I've been busy packing, etc., and half because, haha, I am sort of saving it as a TREAT for myself. /dork

I know we've had this discussion before because I have the same problem. That and I feel like they shouldn't still be doughy when they come from the oven so I leave them in there an extra minute and then WHAM, hard/burnt cookies. Oy... they are my bane. AND...I've actually never made a pie in my life. Hmm. That's quite a revelation. I hope we can still be friends. LOL.

I came up with this whole plot and then when it came down to writing it, I just couldn't get the words out.

You don't even KNOW how many unfinished fic ideas I have for this exact reason. I have an entire folder on my hard drive dedicated to "Stories in Progress" mostly filled with pages (and pages) of ideas without any real... story/structure to write. I pretty much only have time for comments and LJ on the weekends (I'm sneaking time to answer comments this morning) but I am going to dive into the pretty fics that have been posted this week, including yours. It's my TREAT for surviving the work week. (Speaking of treats, I hope you like the fic if you're saving it. LOL.) :)

I am more than a little surprised, considering who signed up and how much excitement there was for it (and those prompts! They all looked so fun!!) Of course, who am I to talk? I almost didn't get mine done. But I won't lie. I am damned proud of what I wrote - mostly because I haven't written 4 fic in a YEAR and I managed 5 fic(lets?) for the challenge. Uber happy about that.

*hugs

Good luck with your first day back to classes today!
