The fan is whirring in the corner, blowing cool air through the stiflingly hot room, but it skims ineffectually over Terry’s skin. Her back is sticky damp with sweat, and when Don sits down on the bed behind her she can feel the heat radiating off of him. When he touches her hip she tries to shrug him off, but he tightens his grip, holding her still, and before she can open her mouth to protest, a wet chill slides over her shoulder blades, making her shiver as Don trails the ice cube held in his mouth down her back.
