"It scares me sometimes," he told her, "the way his brain works." His eyes were focused on the board at the front of the room, rapidly being filled in with dry-erase equations. "I can't keep up."
She watched him for a minute. "Not many people can," she offered, finally. He shook his head, half-frustrated.
"You don't understand," he said. "It's different when it's your brother. Like there's a... a part of yourself you can't access."
"Do you think," she asked, "that maybe sometimes he feels the same way?"
He glanced at her, frowning. "What?"
"About you," she said.
