125 - [Voice]

[Quiet, ringing a little hollow out of grief and, perhaps, shame.]

One of Rion's creatures... Ketara, I think is her name...

She teleported his body here. And - and Dawn's, too.

[Confusion animates her voice somewhat after a pause and a brief click of the throat as she swallows.]

They are uninjured, no wounds, nothing to betray what did this ( Read more... )

and the world grows darker, rion is my champion, woe, dawn is a good name

I am sorry, Riqis - I do not know.

There's nothing we can do for them?

Maybe some monster put them to sleep, or...Or maybe they lost their heart somehow...asleep like Kairi was once.

This is no sleep, Riqis. It is a death, or a... lack of being.

You don't know what to do?

[The words are blunt; her voice is anything but.]

They are dead, Riqis. There is naught to do, but wait.

[Draco's drawl is a bit more shaken than usual, but he feels prompted to respond, having seen the conversation between Zelda and Riqis. These symptoms sound all too familiar, and he has very little doubt over what could have happened to them.]

They're not dead. They might as well be, though.

Did you see what happened?

Of course not, don't be stupid. It's rather obvious what happened.

Not for everyone.

You have knowledge of this, my lord?

Unfortunately. [His voice loses some of its arrogance when addressing her again.]

It sounds like they were attacked by the Dementors.

Dementors...

[She quiets, trying to remember -]

The - things. The spectres in the graveyard?

[voice] ferretprince December 19 2009, 23:46:15 UTC
Right. You wouldn't happen to know if that's where their bodies were found, would you?

[Because if not, that means the Dementors have ventured beyond that boundary, and frankly, that's not something Draco wants to think about.]

I don't.

[She realises the implications of such. It does not bode well.]

We can but be wary. And wait until they can tell us.

Or... until these creatures show up again themselves.

Tell me, my lord, what are they? What do they do?

They're a creature from our world that feeds on misery and despair. Get too close and they'll drain you of your happiness. It's... difficult to describe. They were the guards of the wizarding prison until they joined the Dark Lord's army.

[He pauses, considering how to word the next bit.]

Their worst... weapon is the Dementor's Kiss. They'll clamp their mouth around their victim's lips and suck out his soul, which reduces him to nothing but an empty shell. He'd still be alive, but not... there.

I've seen it done before. And it sounds like that's what happened to them.
