They went with the dawn...

[She takes a breath, and sighs minutely.]I wonder then, are they sensitive to light? And if so, if we could build and maintain some sort of magic... or must it be the sun? I suppose there is but one way to find out, isn't there? If the night does not swallow it up regardless, I will see what can be done about that. If ( Read more... )

There are those of us with the tools to conduct healing, if you've need of it.

I would be grateful for any help you would give, my lord. Though, by tools, do you mean something of a technological nature or something else?

Materia. Magic born of the life-force of my planet.

Materia.

[As he speaks, she almost recognises the voice, as if she's heard someone... doing an impression of it? Something akin to it, but not quite it.]

I have seen and used it before, my lord, and hold some in my possession, yet if you can spare the aid, that would be wonderful. It is not as effective in my hands as it has been in others.

Indeed.

[This unknown female possessed materia? Curious. But the General doesn't inquire further, at least not yet.]

I can, and will do so gladly. Where then might I aid, madam?

[Madam. The title makes her think back. Back to Rufus. The thought is not necessarily pleasant, but she does not falter.]

That's very kind of you, sir. You are most likely to find me in the Sanctuary, and that is where most healing is done.

[...the Sanctuary. Hm...]

You are the Lady Zelda, correct?

[Not much of a question, more of an affirmation.]

[After a pause, a smile.]

I am, my lord.

[Thought so. He sighed and shook his head. This was not going to go well, Sephiroth knew.]

Then I shall meet you there.

[A pause, then-]

If I may ask, I've no intention of harming your guard, Lady Zelda. I would take it as a kindness if you would order them to stand down.

[Instinctually, she would accept such, but instead, the request made her hesitate. She was no fool, after all, and this voice that she could almost, almost recognise...]

Such will be done, my lord - if I may know who it is that I shall be meeting with?

[If Zack's reaction was any indication, this answer would be met with shock and wariness. Nevertheless, he was not about to hide his identity; he wouldn't. The woman had a right to know, after all.

And he was not that man.]

I am Sephiroth, Lady Zelda, of Midgar.

[Sephiroth.

It clicks together, this other little piece she'd been missing. Sephiroth, JENOVA, and Cloud, that constant battle. Cruelty and madness and loss -

But, she thinks.

This is not that man.

Not yet.

There are a few long moments of silence, and then she speaks again, as even and welcoming as before.]

Then I shall await you here, my lord Sephiroth.
