[The communicator rustles, not in an acidental manner. Evidently, this is someone who already knows what it is and is just trying to figure out how to use it. Or what it is. The voice is quiet and far away and, perhaps, instantly recognisable.]

I remember... this was...

[There's a long pause, and the video swings into focus, but that, at least, ( Read more... )

[Alfred snorts, obviously displeased by this happening]

Here I had hoped you had crawled away and died somewhere quietly.

Of course I shouldn't be that lucky.

[Her voice crisps instantly, as if she remembers this, at least.]

Would that I might apologise for disappointing, my lord, but those words, too, escape me.

Just as useless as ever, as well, I see.

What use have we of a... [He paused, the next word almost paining him to say. Still, he spits it out, in utter contempt] queen who does nothing of worth for her people?

A more constructive question may be, what are we to do with fools who will concern themselves only with their own interests, rather than doing aught for those around them?

I do not know how long it has been since I walked these streets, as I do not recall your name, sir, but I am not going to bandy words with you.

Is that not what I was asking you, Zelda? You surround yourself with only your friends and protectors and leave the rest of the city to rot. If something does not serve your needs, you do not address it.

How expected. Ignore your naysayers, in favour of the open arms that you wish to retreat to. What good is a queen who cannot stand her own?

Alfred,

[And the name comes without pause, without faltering to think, nor does she seem to notice such.]

I have done and will do all I can for those who need and wish it here. I will not, however, be spoken down to by a man who would use us only for his own devices, and would sabotage us otherwise. I would do all I could for you, too, if you needed it, yet you have not yet come to me with such.

So you continue to believe, and such I will not try to change in you, my lord. The offer is there, and remains.

That's all.

Lies! Even if I asked a favour you would deny it!

You are no more a Queen than I!

You don't deserve your title, wench!

The Queen is dead! The Queen is dead! The Queen is dead!

Alfred. Believe as you will. That is not my place to change or validate.

But I am here, nonetheless, and your words will not change that.

((If only she was the type to get pissed, I could have had her say she was pretty sure Alfred was a far greater queen than she. 8') ))

You are insufferable.

I wish you nothing short of a painful, excruciating, torturous death befitting of a treasonous wretch like you.

((Ahahaha aww if only ;o;))
