[After being flung into countless numbers of trees from the third party's traps during the last draft, Ion swore to himself he'd never climb another tree for as long as he lived. Obviously, he didn't count on finding a baby bird having fallen out of its nest when he made that declaration. And with the mother bird calling for her child overhead, Ion ( Read more... )

[As it just so happens, Momo managed to get out this morning without their noticing. So before Sokka takes care of his boatly duties, he's out looking for Momo. Toph is usually better at this, given her special earthbending awesome, so he's convinced her to have him look around.]

You know what, he probably already went back. We should just go back.

[Just when Ion was afraid he'd have to jump down himself... voices! And familiar ones at that!]

Sokka? Master Toph?

[...well, he's not going to forget the title. That would be rude.]

Yeah, you're- [Hello, a voice from above?

Sokka blinks, looks up, and sure enough... it's that kid hanging up there. He's about to say something until he does a mental rewind.]

Master Toph?

[ Sorry, she thought the princess was in another tree.

If it's the library Ion's at, then Vorona's already beaten him to the punch. She's sitting at a table, surrounded by stacks of books arranged neatly before her. Currently, she's leafing through a rather large looking specimen at a speed that has her turning the page at an average of once every five seconds. But her speed-reading doesn't prevent her from looking up at the young boy when he passes, giving him a brief glance over before returning to her reading. ]

There is the presence of a twig in your hair, if you find it necessary to remove it.

[That is a lot of books. She doesn't seem to be working here... maybe she's researching something?

[He almost shoots out an apology for staring when she looks up, but her comment throws him off.]

...a twig? [Aaand pulling it out now.] Oh, I must have missed this one. Thank you.

[ She only nods as a welcome, not looking up from her reading... . . And then she's done with the book... picking up the next... ]

Tree climbing, for most, may be seen as a recreational activity, a temporary setback, or a flight of fancy. [ She starts rambling off, matter-of-factly, as she picks up a rather light looking booklet similar to a magazine. ] For a figure of your physique, it might be best recommended to use the addition of a rope, harness, and a helmet for safety. Otherwise, very dangerous.

Yes, I probably should have thought ahead before I tried climbing so high. [If Anise were here, she'd probably be scolding him for it right now.]

But if I had left the bird alone on the ground, something might have happened to it.

[It's times like this that having someone who flies around the village on a broom for fun really comes in handy. Arche floats on by the tree Ion's in, looking like she's gonna bypass him... then double takes.

She slowly turns around.]

... Do you need a hand?

[...h-how is she doing that.]

If it isn't too much trouble. I didn't realize getting back down would pose such a problem...

[She's a witch! Burn her!]

I can see that. Well, I've carried a lot heavier people than you on this thing. Climb on.

[She brings her broom up next to the branch Ion's on.]

This is... [Sorry, he's going to have to stare at the broom for a second.]

I've never seen a flying broom before. How does it stay in the air like that?

[The things going for a walk will get you into these days.]

Do I need to ask what you are doing up there?

Nephry! [Oh, he's glad to see you here! ...even if it means she'll learn of his fail.]

There was a baby bird that fell out of its nest. I got stuck up here trying to help it.

I see. ...Well, better to be stuck through good intentions, I suppose.

What are your options for coming back down?

I guess it isn't too far of a jump, but...

[Yes, he's looking nervously down at those thorn bushes. He already had a bit of a hard time trying to navigate through them getting up the tree. Falling on them would be... unpleasant.]

[Luke hadn't been in the village very much thanks to spending nearly all of his time with Xion in the clinic. He's here now, though, though not for long. He was planning on going back to the apartment and visit with Asch, just to talk...

And that's when he spots the slightly different shade of green from a tree. Curious, Luke looks up - ]

... Ion?

A baby bird fell out of its nest. I heard the mother calling for help, and I couldn't just leave the poor thing to fend for itself. I climbed up here to bring it back, but the lower branches snapped while I was climbing. I don't know how else to get down now...
