[Anise hadn't even been gone a full day yet and Ion already didn't know what to do with himself. It hurt to look across the hall and know that the room was empty. It hurt knowing he wouldn't see Anise's smiling face as she cooked breakfast in the morning. It hurt knowing he wouldn't get to spend another day with her around the village. It hurt

Hey-it's you...!

...yes?

Neck's all better now?
[He shifts the cross on his shoulder, suddenly realizing-]
Ah, right... I was a lot shorter, when you last met me.
[Does the scruffy-headed tan guy ring any bells yet, or should he make sure to be completely obvious?]

[He'd probably look even more grateful had the circumstances of this been different, but as it stands, this is the happiest he's looked all day.]
You left before I had a chance to thank you. You saved my life...
Reply
Don't worry about that: I was thanked plenty, words or no.
But it's really good to 'hear' you're alright now; that was a plenty serious wound you had there.

Yes... I wasn't able to talk for almost two weeks after. [A pause. Thinking about the experiments made him think about the Malnosso and how they take people away... which in turn puts him right back to thinking about Anise, so clearly it's topic-changing time.]
Since I wasn't able to introduce myself before: my name is Ion.

I'm Wolfwood, pleased to make your acquaintance!
...Well, a second time, that is.

[Ion returns the handshake, but can't help but wonder how Wolfwood is carrying... well, whatever that is with only one arm. He looks up at it curiously.]
If you don't mind my asking, that thing you're carrying... are you transporting it somewhere? I'd hate to be keeping you... [It looks heavy.]

This thing? Nah, this is part of my job. Carry it everywhere I go, mostly.
[He holds it up like a dumbbell, totally unaffected by the weight.]
I'm what you'd call a priest.
[...He wonders how long he can really say that before people say he's the shittiest priest they've ever ran into. |D]

A priest...? That's a clergyman, isn't it? [Have a respectful smile.]
I'm not familiar with that word in my own world, but I've seen it used in some of the books at the library.
Reply
You actually know what that is-I've been used to people scratching their heads, around these parts. Heck, even at home.
I'm a man of God, a fella of the cloth, a preacher, priest, clergyman, whatever you'd prefer. Though I admittedly don't look it.

Are priests from your world meant to look a certain way?
Reply
[Less scruffy, less chest, less giant-gun-cross.]
No one ever seems to realize I'm one at first, anyway. But a lot of them wear a type of 'uniform' for the profession, I guess you could say.
Reply
A uniform... that isn't too different from how things are done in the Order. Usually those working within the main Cathedral wear robes.

[it's just to show off his sexy frame to ladies, obv.]

[Naturally he's talking from experience here; Ion without a coat in the wintertime is just asking for him to catch something.]
