[It's later in the evening when the Fon Master makes a reappearance in the village just outside the barracks. Somewhat dazed, Ion takes only a few steps before tripping and falling to his knees in the snow.]
[He brings a hand to his throat as he gasps, the numbing effects of the drugs quickly wearing away and bringing to attention a stinging pain

AT ALL.
Looks like talking to that douchehead spirit was put on hold for a minute while he bumbles through the snow toward the figure.]
Hey! You okay?
Hey...

[He tries to speak, but not a word comes out. The drops of blood falling from his neck into the snow are probably a good indicator as to why.]

PANIC
Okay, no, he can handle this. It isn't the first time he's dealt with injuries, in his own experiences around Gunsmoke's shitty streets (if you can call them that). He dips down, brow furrowed.]
Lemme see it.

[With a wince, he pulls his hand away from his throat, his eyes widening when he sees his own palm covered in blood.]

Don't worry-I can get y'something to help the blood.
[He runs the blade through the cloth, eyes focused on his task.
Of course, with any bloody wound, his heart is bada-booming.]
I'm gonna cut you some more for your neck. Keep your hand on it.
Can't talk at all?

[He hears Wolfwood's question, but obviously can't answer. He mouths the word "No" but can't be sure if Wolfwood saw it or not.]

He notices the lip movement, and that's all he needs, regardless of Ion's reply. So he can't.]
M'gonna wrap these around your other bandages and all that. Shouldn't get rid of the old ones 'til you're at a doctors.
[He puts the knife back and gathers up the white cloth, offering Ion a questioning look; you willing to be good and let him wrap that, or are you one of those nervous kids like him who'd refuse help?
Seemed the former, but he had to be sure.]
I'm gonna wrap it up so y'won't bleed all over, okay?

Hold still.
[He reaches around and begins wrapping the already bandaged wound, unflinching at the blood despite how anxious the sight makes him-s'not like he was scared of it... just understanding of the implications of its loss.
When it's finally done, he makes sure it's tight enough to keep the blood from seeping quickly, but gentle enough as to not choke the kid out; neck wounds weren't something he dealt with before, so maybe it should've been tighter. Still...]
Can ya move? I can help y'walk, if you can't.

[Still, he wasn't going to be able to walk without a little help, so he held up his arm in silent acceptance of Wolfwood's offer.]

Y'can't freeze, if I'm helpin' you there.
[AKA put on the goddamn jacket or I'll make you. But once it's on, he grabs Ion's arm and pulls the kid half onto his shoulder. Despite how thin and scrawny the 8-year-old is, he's surprisingly good at carrying weight other than his own through this snow.]
Hang in there, and I'll get ya' t'someone.

[Ion will try and support his own weight, but he feels so tired and just the act of hanging onto Wolfwood's shoulder felt painful. It's a good thing Ion isn't very big himself, or this would be even more difficult.]

Y'know, when somethin' hurts you real bad and you're in pain, a good thing t'do is think about somethin' you want the most right now. If you focus on that, it'll hurt less.

[Home. Or at least what he's come to know as home.]
[He still had to keep most of his attention focused on staying awake so they can keep walking, but with those thoughts in mind, he actually manages a little bit of a smile.]

Hang on, we'll get there. So just thing about the good things.]

[Of course, he's not too sure where this boy is leading him, anyway. Probably the clinic, right? But how far away was that...? He was still rather out-of-sorts.]
