You know, I think Hoagy Carmichael wrote some great songs.
I don't know why I mention this, here of all places, where the reaction to seeing the name Hoagy Carmichael is probably clicking a browser button to go somewhere less boring because Soren is rambling about something stupid again.
Really, he did, though.
Songs that feel like they've simply been around forever...never created, just always there, even if you had no idea he wrote them. Like "Georgia on My Mind," just to name one of hundreds that someone might know, plus the one I'm listening to right now. Chances are very good you've heard at least one of his songs before.
Yet, despite the fact that he seemed very gregarious, I can't help but feel that even in some of his faster instrumentals, there was always an undercurrent of melancholy.
I think when I play, and on occasion write music, it possesses that same inherent mood. It makes me wonder.
