Friday I went to see V for Vendetta with
kaneta and
vermilionskies, which was fantastic. (Granted, I haven't read the comic yet. I decided to see the movie first so as not to be distracted by constant comparisons. I'm sure nothing could lessen my enjoyment of the book; Allan Moore can do no wrong.) I think my favourite part was when V quoted Emma Goldman and then they danced to Antony and the Johnsons.
On Saturday
robots_suck and I went to see Fursuxa, a one woman band who, with the aid of a loop station and a SK-1 with the keys taped down, was able to make a divine amount of noise with just her voice and a suitcase of toy instruments. The last song almost made me cry; she turned her self into an entire chorus by singing the same phrase over itself with slight embelishments, and then adding a new phrases in diferent octaves.
Then we went to a fantastic party in Polish Hill, where we talked about space exploration with a novelist and archetypal monsters with a plasma physicist. We still weren't tired when everyone had left, so we went back to mine and watched Another Country.
Yesterday
zingibar invited me over for wild rice and mushrooms.
thedogofsputnik dropped by, but had to leave early to get up for work, and then we went to Armands with Brendon.
I've discovered that the "jurried" art exhibition I just entered is judged by whomever shows up at the opening, which means you all must go and vote for me. Modern Formations on Penn Avenue, Tomorrow 7:00 to 10:00, free food and wine. Attendance is mandatory.
